Machkund
About
About 4 kms from the town of Dholpur is an ancient sacred place
called Machkund. It commands a scenic view. It has a tank
surrounded by a series of temples of different dates. The place is
named after Raja Machchh Kund. Raja Machchh Kund, the twenty
fourth king of the Suryavanshi Dynasty (the solar race) is said to
have reigned nineteen generations before Lord Ram. According to

Other
legend, Raja Machchh Kund, was sleeping here when a demon Kaal
Yaman while pursuing Lord Krishna, accidentally woke him up. The
demon was burnt to ashes because of a divine blessing to Raja
Machchh Kund. It is now a sacred place for pilgrims.

Shergarh Fort
About
It was built by Raja Maldev, a ruler of Dholpur in around 1532 A.D. It was reconstructed in 1540 A.D. by Sher Shah Suri, the founder of Suri dynasty and hence has been named after him. Many old Cannons made of Ashtadhatu and weighing around 25 tonnes have been placed here on the walls of the Fort. One such Cannon named 'Hanuhunkar' has been moved to Indira Park. It is 19 feet long and 10 feet in width. All these Cannons are decorated with Mughal style beautiful carvings.
