Fort is situated on top of a hill, which is 180 meter high. This fort
is one of the most popular Chittaurgarh tourist destinations. The
palaces inside the Chittorgarh Fort, which are known for their rich
architecture, are Rana Kumbha Palace, Tower of Victory and Fateh Prakash
Palace. The fort of Chittorgarh was built by the Rajputs. It stands
high and is a majestic structure that dots the city.
The places of attraction within the premises of the fort are
the towers of Vijay Stambh and Kirti Stambh. The fort is surrounded by

between the 9th and 17th Centuries. The Kirti Stambh has 54 stairs. It

Meerabai Temple
About
Meerabai Temple is one of the religious places to see in Chittaurgarh. The temple was constructed during the rule of Maharana Kumbha, the Rajput king. It was dedicated to Mira Bai, one of the prominent participants in the Bhakti Cult movement.
The temple was constructed in the archetypal Rajput architecture.
The structure lies on an elevated plinth that is typical of the North
Indian architecture. The dome of the temple is embellished with a
structure of 5 human bodies with a single head. The human bodies
symbolize the four castes of the Hindu religion or the Varnas and the
5th caste of the Harijan. The single head symbolizes the faith in God,
who can be equally realized by all. Above the chief sanctum rises the
conical roof of the temple.

The sanctum sanctorum of the temple comprises of the paintings of Lord Krishna. Paintings of Mira Bai offering prayers to the Lord are also placed in the inner sanctum. Four pavilions extend from the inner sanctum into the colonnade. The small chhatri found in the temple’s forecourt is dedicated to the mentor of Mira Bai, Swami Ravidas. He hailed from Varanasi and belonged to the Harijan caste. The floor lying underneath the shrine carries the footmarks of the saint.

Kalika Mata Temple

The outer surface of the structure is adorned with human figures.

The Chittaurgarh Museum, better known as Fateh Prakash Palace Museum, is another must visit place in Chittaurgarh. The Fateh Prakash Palace Museum of Chittorgarh houses many significant and historical artifacts.
Inaugurated in the year 1968, the Fateh Prakash Palace Museum
boasts of some magnificent collection of war weapons like daggers,
shields, swords, Farsa, axes, helmets and armors. One can see the clay
models of the tribes of the area. These models are clad with traditional
outfits and jewelries. There is a statue of Ganapati, which was built
between the 8th and 9th century.

These palaces were the last to be built within the premises of the Chittorgarh Fort. They were built in a simple style in comparison to other forts and palaces of the area. Efforts are being taken by the tourism department of Chittaurgarh to protect the fort as a large part of it lies in ruins.
