Mount
Mary Church is located on a beautiful hill on the outskirts of Mumbai.
It is one of the most well known churches in Mumbai. It was constructed
by the Portuguese in 1640 and was later reconstructed in 1761. It is
believed that Mount Mary Church was destroyed in 1738, during a Maratha
raid. Later Mother Mary's statue was recovered from Arabian Sea by local
fishermen and was kept in St. Andrews, before being moved to the newly
constructed Mount Mary Church.

Other
The
stalls in the carnival sell Goan sweets, wax idols of Mother Mary, and
collection of candles in the shape of hands, feet and different other
parts of the body. The ailing people light candles in the Church that
correspond to their illness with the hope that Mother Mary will cure
them of their ailment.

Film City was built in the year 1911. The present day Film City may be

Phalke. The Film City began its journey by producing the first "silent"
film. Today the film city is equipped with all the necessary technical

Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai

Mumbai celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi in a grand manner and worships Lord Ganesh with supreme devotion. Thus Siddhivinayak Temple is a temple of eminent importance in Mumbai.
Earlier, the Siddhivinayak temple was a small construction highlighting the black idol of Shree Siddhivinayak, carved out of stone. It was only two and half feet wide then. The most remarkable feature of this idol of Lord Ganesh is that, His trunk is tilted to the right side. The deity has four hands , which is why it is also called Chaturbhuj. The four hands contain a lotus, a small axe, holy beads and a bowl full of Modaks, a sweet considered to be a favorite with Shree Siddhivinayak.

temple has undergone a complete make-over in the recent past. The idol
has been kept as it is and the temple has been built into an unique
six-storeyed construction, which almost touches the sky. The top of the
temple is clad with a golden dome, which dazzles brilliantly in the sun.

The Gateway of India
About
The Gateway of India was built in 1924 to celebrate the arrival of King George V and Queen Mary. The design and the plan was given by George Wittet which was approved by the then Governor General of Mumbai, Sir George Sydenham Clarke. The construction began in 1911 and took thirteen years for the entire project to be completed. The Gateway of India was inaugurated by the Viceroy, the Earl of Reading on 4th December, 1924.
