 Aga Khan Palace is one of the finest piece of architectural beauty in the western India. The exquisite palace is surrounded by the lavish green gardens all around. The Lal Mahal is also famous for an important historical event that took place between Shivaji and Shaistekhan's, a Mughal invader. This is the place where Shivaji Maharaj cut Shaistekhan's fingers when he was trying to escape from the window of the Lal Mahal. The famous statue of Jaimata (Shivaji's mother) still adorns the Lal Mahal of Pune. Visitors can see the statues great Maratha leader, Shivaji in his youth. There is one that shows Shivaji with a golden plough where his mother Jijabai and Guru Dadoji Konddev are looking at him. Pictorial representation also reflects the life of Shivaji Maharaj.  National Film Archives Museum was set up in the year 1964 and is one of the largest film archives in Asia. The museum preserves all the classic movies and all the details on the classic movie makers. It is located in the Jayakar Bungalow on the Law College Road.
