JAIPUR TOURIST PLACE

Amer Fort

Placeholder

About

Amer Palace (Hindi: आमेर क़िला, also spelled and pronounced as Amber) is located in Amer (a town with an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi)[1]), 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur, Rajasthan state, India. It is the principal tourist attractions in the Jaipur area, located high on a hill.[2][3] Amer Fort was built by Raja Man Singh I. Amer Fort is known for its artistic style of Hindu elements. With its large ramparts, series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks the Maota Lake, at its forefront.

The aesthetic ambiance of the palace is seen within its walls on a four level layout plan (each with a courtyard) in a well turned out opulent palace complex built with red sandstone and marble consisting of the Diwan-e-Aam or the "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas or the "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace) or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over the water cascade within the palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace.[4] The palace was lived in by the Rajput Maharajas and their families. At the entrance to the palace near the fort’s Ganesh Gate, there is also a temple dedicated to Sila Devi, a goddess of the Chaitanya cult which was given to Raja Man Singh when he had defeated the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in 1604. (Jessore is now in Bangladesh).

This palace along with Jaigarh Fort, located immediately above on the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the same Aravalli range of hills, is considered as one complex, as the two are well connected by a subterranean passage. This passage was meant as an escape route in times of war for the royal family members and others in the Amer Fort to shift to the more redoubtable Jaigarh Fort.

Annual tourist visitation to the Amer Palace in Amer town was reported by the Superintendent of Department of Archaeology and Museums to the Amer Palace as 5000 visitors a day, and 1.4 million visitors were reported during 2007

Earlier to the Kachwahas, Amer was a small place built by Meenas in the town they consecrated to Amba, the Mother Goddess, whom they knew as `Gatta Rani' or `Queen of the Pass'.The Amer Fort, as it stands now, was built over the remnants of this earlier structure during the reign of Raja Man Singh, the Kacchwaha King of Amber. The structure was fully expanded by his descendant, Jai Singh I. Even later, Amer Fort underwent improvements and additions by successive rulers over the next 150 years, until the Kachwahas shifted their capital to Jaipur during the time of Sawai Jai Singh II, in

Many of the ancient structures of the medieval period of the Meenas have been either destroyed or replaced. However, the 16th century impressive edifice of the Amer Fort and the palace complex within it built by the Rajput Maharajas are very well preserved.

Bala Quila (Alwar Fort)

Placeholder

About

Almost every city or town in Rajasthan is blessed with a fort. So is Alwar. The huge Bala Quila, sitting high up on a 300m steep cliff, is what lends this ancient city much of its character. Though we do not know who built this forsaken fort, it has stood there watching over Alwar from even before the Mughals came into the scene. Which means that it was built before the 16th century. and we know this for sure because Babur (the first Mughal king in India) is known to have spent a night here. Not just that, he even took away the fabulous treasure that was kept here and gifted it to his son, Humayun. Later Jahangir had also stayed there for some time when he was packed off by his authoritarian father, Akbar. The place where he stayed came to be called Salim Mahal. (Jahangir was actually banished by Akbar because he tried to assassinate Abul Fazal, one of the nine jewels of his father's court). Bala Quila was finally taken over by Pratap Singh in 1775.

There are three different sections in the Alwar Government Museum and each of these sections is housed in a large hall.
Of these, the second section is considered to be the most important one. It contains precious Persian, Urdu, Arabic and Sanskrit manuscripts as well as some very beautiful paintings belonging to the Mughal and Rajput school of painting. As for example the Gulistan of S'adi (the Garden of roses), Bostan (the Garden of Spring) and Waqiat-e-Babri (Mughal Emperor Babar's autobiography) are some of the very rare Persian documents that are to be found here. And for the paintings, they are further sub divided into sub styles and are simply marvelous to look at. They date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and well reflect the artistic skills of the painters.
The first section of the Alwar Government Museum primarily includes archaeological finds. Exquisite sculptures and valuable inscriptions that throw a great deal of light on the history of this region are kept in this part of the museum. It was customary for the royal royalty in Rajasthan to go on shooting excursions and hunt wild animals. The former ruler of Alwar state was no exception and the skins of the lions, tigers and leopards he shot were later presented by him to the museum. It forms a sizeable portion of the collection.

The "Karamaat' or miracles, which formed a most prominent part of Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz's life and mission, have always been Ultimately associated with the lives of other Sufi saints. As a matter of fact, miracles emanate from the supernatural powers bestowed upon these Holy persons by God as die result of their life long devotion, probations(Mujahedas) and trials, and are beyond the scope of common conception of ordinary human beings, their experiences and knowledge. Modern science and logic have no place in the hidden calculation and determination of miracles. They are displayed only when there is a great emergency to justify them. In fact, they are used as a last remedy when all other common-sense persuasion failed to convince the 'devil' in man of the teachings and principles of the divine doctrines of Truth or the laws of God.In order to maintain a harmonious equilibrium among mankind in the "Divine Scheme of God" so essential for die happiness of His creation on earth. Highly talented and enlightened Sufis and seers are extremely few and rare in this age. They are ranked as Walees in Muslim terminology who, as the lives of Khwaja Sb. and others of his most distinguished order prove, were obliged to use their supernatural powers to meet the circumstances of each situation strictly in accordance with the divine law and will in the cause of Truth and nothing else.
